Magnolia x soulangeana (Saucer Magnolia)

Living in zone 7, I've seen a lot of beautiful spring trees actually flower - something I didn't always get to witness in my zone 5 hometown. The house across the street from me had a hybrid Magnolia in bloom that was always burned by a frost - the tree always looked like a brown mess.

But this Magnolia x soulangeana is located near Boathouse Row in Philly and is showing no danger of frost damage.
